Customs Duties Policies and Steps

When dealing with customs duties, taxes, or import fees for shipments related to Billo tasks, creators may have questions about their responsibilities, the steps to take, and the reimbursement process. Below are Billo's detailed customs handling policies and procedures to assist in such scenarios.

Policy Overview

Creators are not expected to bear any costs related to customs duties, taxes, or import fees for Billo tasks. These charges should be covered by the brand shipping the product. Creators should not pay the customs fees unless specifically instructed by Billo support. If payment becomes unavoidable, reimbursement procedures are available.

Steps If Requested to Pay Customs Duties

  1. Review the Fee Notice. If you receive an import fee or customs duties notice (e.g., from UPS, DHL), do not proceed with payment immediately.

  2. Inform Billo Support. Notify Billo’s support team by sharing details about the notice, such as the fee amount, related documentation, and any accompanying letters. Billo support will coordinate with the brand to ensure the charges are resolved directly.

  3. Proceed Only If Necessary. In rare cases where paying the fee upfront is unavoidable, retain all related documents and proof of payment to initiate the reimbursement process.

Requesting Reimbursement for Customs Fees

Should you pay customs duties upfront for a Billo task, follow these steps to request reimbursement:

  1. Gather Documentation: Ensure you have the receipt or proof of payment for the tariff or customs fee and the corresponding Task ID.

  2. Submit a Reimbursement Request: Contact Billo support to provide the above documents. Support will validate the information, liaise with the brand to confirm the fee, and process the reimbursement. Once approved, the amount will be added to your next payout.

Important Notes

  • Creators should not be required to cover the cost of the product or customs duties themselves, as these are the brand’s responsibilities.

  • Brands often pay such fees directly where possible, but reimbursement mechanisms are in place if payment becomes unavoidable.

By adhering to these guidelines, creators can ensure smooth handling of customs-related issues without incurring unexpected out-of-pocket costs.

For instance, if you encounter issues regarding customs duties or import fees, contact the CS Team via chat for guidance and help.
