What is HDR and why turn it off?

HDR (High Dynamic Range) enhances the brightness and darkness in your video, preserving more details in shadows and highlights. While this sounds great, HDR can distort colors when uploaded to the Billo Creator's App, making your video look washed out. To avoid this, simply turn off HDR when filming.

How to turn off HDR?

For Apple users

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Scroll down and select Camera.

  3. Tap on Record Video.

  4. Toggle off HDR Video (High Efficiency) (ensure the slider is grey).

For Android users

The location of the HDR setting can vary by phone. Start by opening your camera app and checking the settings, often under "Advanced settings." Look for options like HDR, HDR10+, or try switching the video format to "Most Compatible" instead of "High Efficiency," as HDR is typically enabled in High Efficiency mode.

Example for Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra:

  1. Open the Camera app and switch to Video mode.

  2. Tap the Settings icon in the upper left corner.

  3. Select Advanced video options.

  4. Toggle off HDR10+ Videos (make sure the slider is grey).

FAQ:

I keep getting the error message "format is not supported".

This error means the video you're uploading was filmed with HDR turned on. To prevent this in future videos, be sure to turn off HDR before filming.

You can choose "upload anyway" to save time, as fixing it would require re-filming. Just be sure to turn off HDR for all future videos to avoid this issue again.
